Michael Schmidt remembers the cup-races as if he had crossed the finishing line as recently as yesterday. The successes of that era inspire him to the wicked ideas of today and to the most beautiful yachts of tomorrow. Wilfried Reiners porfits from his memories of races won as they are the ingredients in his cuisine of ideas. He manages the projects of the future.
It goes without saying that resourceful and creative minds need weight s on their feet to come down to earth and get back to business. Udo Potthast, our Chief Financial Officer, keeps us on course and back to the facts. Potthast, a man of figures, represents the principle of reality within the management team at HANSE. yard. It is difficult at times – but its needs to be!

Gregor Bredenbeck | Gregor Bredenbeck, our production manager, supports him with his pragmatic and professional approach to the building of the yachts. He started off as an apprentice and sailed across the Atlantic several times. The research and development department is led by Karl Dehler. “Kalle” grew up with sail boats, yachts and synthetic materials. The world champion of the 3⁄4 tons is assisted by young designers, architects and engineers who are all infected by the virus “Sailing”.

Staff member of the purchasing department is Andreas Bock, a world champion in ice yachting. He is also a master around H-boats. Bock is responsible for the timely supply of all materials for example, Klaus Häcker is our “wood worm.“ He takes care of the pre-fabrication in our wood shop. With a background as a production manager in the furniture industry, he has always wanted to live and work on the coast. He began living his dream by recently moving to Greifswald and joining the Hanse team.
Wood is a wonderful material but in modern Yacht production it is not sufficient alone. We are fortunate that epoxy has been invented and is now the material for all lightweights. Stephan Eigendorf, a boat builder, has travelled the world and built Hitech-Racers. He is now leading the epoxy serial production. Moritz Keppler runs the building of forms as he knows how beautiful yachts must look and how fast they have to sail.
Behind HANSE yachts we have a wealth of nationalities where we understand the dialects of sailing in many languages. These are validated by the design team of Judel /Vrolijk & Co. This crew laid the ground for their success in the seventies and eighties. Yachts like "Rubin" and "Pinta", "Saudade" and "Innovision" won, along with many other races, the One Ton Cup, the Sardinia`s Cup and many others. Today, this design team is showing the rest of the world how to build classical yachts and fast racing boats. The JVC-crew also speaks Spanish, namely with the "Bribón", owned by the Spanish King Juan Carlos. The team is also able to speak the language of the America’s Cup – the designers from Bremerhaven have proved just that, with the victory of the "Alinghi".
